Festival on the Fourth
Come celebrate America’s birthday at Knoxville’s Festival on the Fourth, Saturday, July 4th from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. at World’s Fair Park. The festivities will kick-off with the National Anthem and Presenting of the Colors at the Tennessee Amphitheatre. The day’s entertainment will include performances by Emcee Freddy Smith and his Chicken with the Patriotic Poultry Show, The Bearded, Van Eaton and Friends, The Lonesome Coyotes, and Matt Stillwell. At 9:35 p.m., the fireworks show will patriotically light up the night sky. The event will also include many family-friendly activities and over 20 vendors. The Festival on the Fourth promises once again to deliver a wide variety of family fun including entertainment, activities and treats at the City of Knoxville’s Fourth of July celebration. The S&W Grand
The S&W Grand is certainly one of Knoxville’s many urban wonders, doubling as a nostalgic restaurant downstairs and a convenient banquet hall upstairs. $5 million renovations were recently completed on this historic building, which has stood in the heart of downtown Knoxville since the days of the Great Depression. Throughout the building’s restoration, the terra cotta Art Deco exterior was preserved while still reviving the inside of the building with new and modern touches. The S&W Grand boasts of its intentional nod to the original cafeteria’s menu, an array of delicious “southern comfort” dishes, while also adding new and modern flavors to the mix. If you love natural beauty, and outdoor activities, you can’t go wrong here. I have nothing but positive things to say about my experiences in Knoxville. So much so, I’m moving there!

The Knoxville Zoo is a wonderful facility for animal lovers and admirers. Much larger than my own hometown zoo, it offers a large array of animals from condors to hedgehogs. It is a great place to spend a couple hours with the kids.

I love the Old City and go there as much as possible. There is nowhere like this in my hometown so its great to come on a Friday when lots of bands are playing at all these different clubs and cafes. The clubs are awesome and the cafes have the best cappuccino around. I would totally recommend this place to anyone visiting or just driving through Knoxville.

Shakespeare on the SquareJuly 15th - August 15th, 2010
 Shakespeare on the Square is a free, outdoor summer Shakespearean festival featuring live performances on a community stage in the Market Square District of downtown Knoxville. The 2010 schedule includes Romeo and Juliet and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged. It runs from July 15th to August 15th. A Midsummer Night's Dream and Hamlet are two popular plays. Hamlet, the most famous play ever written, Shakespeare's immortal story of the young prince who suspects his stepfather of murdering his father for his crown - and his wife! “To Be, or not to be, that is the question." Woman’s Basketball Hall of Fame Induction
 The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame opened in June 1999 in Knoxville, Tennessee. It is the only facility of its kind dedicated to all levels of women's basketball.  History becomes alive at Old Gray as you stroll through 13 acres of the Cemetery and visit with Knoxvillians from the past on Sunday, September 26 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Through reenactors, you will be introduced to an officially pensioned Civil War nurse, a police chief who died as the result of an accident, a family of probable Melungeon ancestry, the father of a famous playwright named Tennessee, and a World War II veteran. Knoxville Museum of Art
The Knoxville Museum of Art opened in March 1990 in a state-of-the-art, 53,200 square-foot facility designed by renowned museum architect Edward Larrabee Barnes. The building, clad in Tennessee marble, is named in honor of local philanthropist Jim Clayton, the largest donor to the building fund. The KMA's collection of approximately 700 objects consists of 20th- and 21st-century works on paper, paintings, mixed media works, sculpture, and fine craft.
